OMB Sets Goals for Federal Hiring Reform

The federal hiring process has been criticized by many as a long, complicated and exhaustive process; creating the need for a hiring reform, which both OMB Director Peter Orszag and OPM Director John Berry have put amongst their top priorities. Agencies are expected to accomplish four specific goals within the next six months. The deadline for reports has been set for December 15. The goals that agencies must meet are, create an outline of their hiring process, revise and rewrite job descriptions in plain language, utilize USAJobs to inform candidates of their application status throughout the entire hiring process and demonstrate hiring managers have been included in every step of the process.
