Through the Institute's national conferences on emerging issues, interactive training programs, best-practice research reports and strategic consulting services, this center provides cutting-edge expertise in the design, implementation and evaluation of strategies to solve operational challenges, improve customer service and enhance organizational performance.
Performance, Accountability and Transparency
With the adoption of the President's Management Agenda (PMA), government agencies are tasked with being held accountable for their performance and the performance of their programs. To ensure that government is accountable, it is necessary that their operations are transparent to the citizen. The Center for Performance Management has convened national conferences focusing on some of the main initiatives behind improving performance management and maintaining transparency while also promoting accountability to managers.
The Center for Government Performance brings together "leaders in the field" in the areas of strategic management, performance measurement, financial management and auditing. The Government Performance Center holds multiple trainings on pressing federal mandates and management reforms, as an effort to bring managers together and have them "roll up their sleeves" and get to the heart of the issue. The Center provides a comprehensive set of trainings on the issues designing, managing, budgeting, evaluating, and improving government programs.
The Center for Government Performance can help government agencies manage organizational change as well as assist in the design of cost-effective, outcome-oriented performance measures that are aligned with agency mission and citizen expectations. Through its use of the Government Performance Logic Model, government managers can employ a simple and proven approach to measure program or agency performance. Using clearly-defined end outcomes, the Logic Model framework illustrates the cause and effect linkages between program activities and outcome results
Furthering Government Research
Aside from its public offered conferences and trainings, the Center for Government Performance brings best practices and key strategies to the government workforce through its publication of Performance Institute Research Reports. By drawing on interviews with federal managers, each report offers a look into the pressing issues facing government agencies in their attempt to integrate performance with management. These reports are available on www.performanceweb.org, and government workers can stay current with federal performance issues by signing up to receive the monthly PMA Update e-Newsletter, outlining news and events for each of the five PMA initiative areas. |
