Teri Ellison, Branch Chief for Recruitment, Worklife and Disability Programs, at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently presented at the 9th Annual Government Performance Summit. Her presentation focused on the development, implementation and results that the SEC has seen with its Work/Life Plus Programs, promoting a healthier, balanced life for all employees. The Work/Life Plus program is a, “comprehensive package of programs, services, and policies to help employees balance work and life events, make healthy life style choices and better manage life’s challenges.”
The program results are evident and speak for themselves. The SEC is currently ranked fifth in the annual “Best Places to Work in the Federal Government,” list conducted by the Partnership for Public Service and the AU Institute for the Study of Public Policy Implementation. They are an impressive 2nd in the category of work/life balance. The SEC recognizes the program as a tool for employees to reduce stress and stay healthy, but also as a retention method to keep and engage their top performers.
Some of the facets of the program include:
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- WorkLife4You Services
- Backup Child Care
- Child Care Subsidy
- Telework
- Health Units
- Fitness Centers
