Mission
Creating a citizen-centered e-government goes beyond constructing web portals and includes all supporting functions of information technology. The government is now calling on IT professionals to create the Federal Enterprise Architecture, as well as individual agency architectures, which will facilitate a citizen-centered e-government.
The creation of an efficient e-government begins with IT budget justification and performance management as it becomes an increasingly important aspect of the PMA. The budget justification process, known as OMB Exhibit 300s, is often seen as an obstacle, but is a necessity in identifying where more training needs to be provided to government professionals.
The Center for Technology Strategy promotes information technology best practices and strategies through national conferences, interactive training programs, research reports and strategic consulting services. These efforts help to create an efficient citizen-centered e-government that enhances services for the taxpayer by improving the way government functions are performed.
Through the implementation of performance measures in IT strategy, the Performance Institute offers a unique and effective approach to training and consulting services. By improving organization IT performance, PI can help to deliver and create a citizen-centered e-government that utilizes the advantages of implementing the Government Performance Logic Model.
The Performance Institute continues to provide additional research on e-government to report best-practices and create policy studies that will inspire a change in government IT. Future reports, like our study "Creating a Performance-Based E-Government," will fuel IT innovation and create efficiency for the taxpayer. |
