Agencies to outline their own performance framework

The Obama Administration has taken another step to differentiate itself from past administrations’, in a June 11 memorandum, OMB Direct Peter Orszag directed agencies to set their own performance framework. Agency leaders will outline their own performance priorities and develop strategies to achieve them. Orszag instructed agencies to focus on priorities with sufficient funding for successful implementation. With a due date of July 31, agencies do not have much time to put together the information. For each performance priority, each agency must define the problem and goal, name programs within and outside the agency that will contribute, identify the leaders that will be responsible for implementing the plan and outline strategy and key performance measures.
